One of my all-time favorite rock n' roll songs is "Passionate Kisses" by Mary Chapin Carpenter. It's such a great song, with a terrific beat! The words in the third verse caught my attention:

Aw, it is such a great song! If you're not tapping your foot to this, you'd better check your pulse.

Though, I ran into a brick wall at the fourth line:
"Give me what I deserve, 'cause it's my right."

Now, I'm willing to cut the songwriter a lot of slack here; literary license. It's just a song. But you don't have a right just 'cause you say so.

Let's take a closer look at "rights."
