| September, 2009 - Recently I was confused because the president had dropped the count of the number of people without health insurance from 48 million to 30 million. It took me a few days, but I figured it out. Bowing to pressure, the president claimed that the health care plan he was proposing (which nobody has seen yet) will not cover illegal aliens. (Never mind that after the bill is passed, the president intends to provide amnesty to illegal aliens. Though, that will make the number of uninsured jump right back up to 48 million. But hey, 18 million... that's just a rounding error in Washington.) Anyway, I decided to dissect the 30 million number. That's what we're supposedly reshaping our entire health care system for... 30 million, hard-working Americans. I learned that a large portion of this number includes families whose breadwinners are between jobs. So their absence of coverage is temporary. The government's COBRA plan often compensates for such temporary loss of insurance. That covers that. So, for that, we're allowing the government to take over 17% of the U.S. economy for this? Well, not quite. Most of the other, poor uninsured mortals are young people, who generally have no need for health care insurance. They are starting out their families, buying their first house, paying for hundreds of thousands of cell minutes, and other essentials. Paying a thousand dollars or so a month for health insurance makes no sense for them. And then there is me (and, I suppose, a few million other people kinda' like me -- though, not a lot like me.)

Please help us by buying stuff through our link to Amazon.com:
| The BBHQ Feature Album is "Old Friends Live on Stage (Deluxe Edition) (2 CD/1 DVD)," by Simon & Garfunkel. If you were fortunate enough to see them in concert in 2003, I do not have to sell you. The concert was terrific! This album collection includes 55 songs, plus their new recording, "Citizen of the Planet," and one of the songs sung by the Everly Brothers during the concert. The DVD was recorded during their concert in Madison Square Garden in 2003. For any S&G fan, this is a must have! But then, you knew that already, didn't you? |

The BBHQ Feature Book is
"The 5000 Year Leap," by
W. Cleon Skousen. The title does not
adequately identify the content, though the concept of the 5,000 year
leap is astounding. The subtitle, Principles of Freedom 101, is
much more applicable to the subject. This book carefully and clearly
summarizes the thinking of the brilliant founding fathers of our country,
the ideas behind the "miracle that changed the world."
