Boomer Book of the Month:

Vinyl Highway The BBHQ Library "Boomer Book of the Month" is "Vinyl Highway," by Dee Dee Phelps. You remember her as Dee Dee, of Dick and Dee Dee. Together, they took a decade long ride on the rock and roll roller coaster. It was a heck of a ride! Dick Clark, Quincy Jones, the Beach Boys, Glenn Campbell, Dionne Warwick, Bobby Vinton... Dick and Dee Dee rubbed shoulders with all of them. This is her "behind the scenes" story. It's pretty cool.

We are voracious readers here at BBHQ, and we highly recommend reading to our visitors. After all, we may be the last generation in history to appreciate the written word - or possibly, to even understand the written word.

As we run across especially good books likely to be of interest to Baby Boomers, we will let you know about it here. We'll tell you a bit about the book, give your our take on it (or that of other boomers), offer an excerpt or two, and if you'd like, allow you to purchase the book from right here. Our main purpose is to offer another source of entertainment, sort of like a readers' digest for Baby Boomers. (Are we allowed to say that?) And if you want to purchase the book, all the better.

About the BBHQ Library

Our library consists of a preview of over 200 books that we think will appeal to us boomers. After all, tempus fugit, and all that. We are partial to biography, humor, and stuff from the sixties, but we'll include books in numerous categories, as shown above. The ones that we feel are especially good will carry our "highly recommended" designation: Thumbs Up!. It's the BBHQ Seal of Approval. Books with the "thumbs up" symbol carry The Official BBHQ Money-Back Guarantee: Order The Book, and if you don't like it, we'll buy it back from you.

The BBHQ OTB (that's: Order the Book) Service

Your purchase will actually go through Amazon.com, the earth's biggest bookstore. So you can get a great price on the book (usually about 15-30% less than at most bookstores), and help us here at BBHQ as well. (Yes, we do get a teeny, weany commission.) You will need to use a credit card for your purchase (preferably your own credit card), but the entire transaction is handled securely by Amazon.com. (No, we do not get your credit card number.) Amazon.com makes it simple to order your book. They deliver the book directly to your door, usually within 2-5 days. (In many cases, you can receive overnight delivery.) I have used Amazon.com on several occasions, and found it to be the perfect way to buy books.

Here's an Idea

Please keep the BBHQ OTB Service in mind when you need to buy a gift. Books make wonderful gifts for any occasion. So anytime you think of buying a book, come to BBHQ first. Tell us what you want; we'll add it to our list... and the world will be a better place for all of us.

Some Fine Print

We write our own reviews for the books in our library; naturally we assume all responsibility for them. We'll also add comments from our visitors, for which we obviously assume no responsibility whatsoever. Informaton on pricing and availability comes from Amazon.com, and occasionally they do change their prices. We do not change the price listed here after we first post it. When you order from them, they will add a shipping charge, which is usually less than the sales tax would have been. (You usually pay no sales tax on purchases from Amazon. Heck, that's reason enough to "Order The Book.") We apologize if we make a typo here and there, but we're not perfect. Please use the information from Amazon.com as the "last word" on the price and availability. And if something doesn't go right and we don't pass you off to Amazon.com correctly, or if we send you to the wrong place, please tell us about it. We'll fix it and make it right.
